ADVANCE NEW ZEALAND.
Since our last number letters haves reached Auckland announcing the very satisfactory intelligence that the specimens of Ore which have been taken from the island of Kowo, (better known as Taylor’s island ), which island is now the property of a Scotch company, and is about 40 miles from Auckland, is of a very superior description. Some of the specimens containing as much as NINETY PER CENT f of Copper!! but the average quality of the ore contains about 55 per cent of Cop* per. The Company are about to work the mine immediately ; the Ore is in very great abundance and close to the surface of the earth. Mr. Beatie, the manager, is now in Sydney making arrangements for the conveyance of the Ore home. The island contains about 3,000 acres ; vessels can lay quite close to the island, and it is only about three weeks since the Deed of Grant was issued by the government to this fortunate company. We understand that the Barrier Cora* panv have received very lavourable reposts of their Ore, and a number of workmen are to proceed there forthwith, under the management of Mr. Verco, who, we are informed has had considerable experience in mining in the mother country.
