with results but little satisfactory to me. Whilst expressing his willingness to furnish employment he regrets his inability to do so until I obtain a 'License' adding his impression that the Govt. wish to avade granting one in my Favor on account of the circumstances attending the termination of my temporary connection with the Govt. as Interpreter to the former R. M. in this district - and finally urged upon me the desirability of trying my fortunes elsewhere - thanking him for his candour and admitting the gravity of his reasons, I may yet plead, without seeking to escape the consequences of my undoubted misconduct, that the heavy punishment that has fallen on my shoulders is or should be a set off against a Judgment that would debar me from the means of finding a livelyhood for my family. Without further allusion to a subject deeply painful to myself and I am sure regretted
