(of a Resolution passed at a Public Meeting held 29th. January 1851. :- That this Meeting having taken into consideration the subject of removing this district of Taranaki into the Southern Province of New Zealand, hereby record their opinion that such removal would be detrimental to their interests; and as such it is hoped will not be sanctioned by the Governor-in-Chief. That a Copy of this Resolution be signed by the Chairman on behalf of the Meeting, and transmitted by him to His Excellency, at Auckland. (Signed) G. Cutfield.
