Regent. ‘‘Babes on Broadway” proves one thing— still maintains its supremacy in the motion picpure world. A splendidly contrived comj bination of music, dancing, comedy and' pathos, this new Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer •pictuie, serves as the perfect show window tor the talents of its co-stars, Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland. Literally full of music, the picture also offers Virginia Weidler in a departure om her usual dramatic role, singing | and dancing. Two other, notable additions are Ray McDonald and Richard . Quino, newcomers from the New York stage, with Fay: inter, Donald Meek ; and Alexander V. oolleott represented in adult roles. , Meteor.—‘‘Female Correspondent’:’ a motion, picture of importance. Starring Herbert Marshall and Virginia Bruce L and featuring young Gene Reynolds opens to-day. at ' the Meteor Theatre. The film gives a gripping account of a scandal in congress, of a blonde radio ■ reporter ' determined to ‘‘get the story!” and of a senate page boy bewildered by the breathlessness of today’s events. Marshall, cast as the ju- ’ nior senator from New York, finds the blonde Miss Bruce a continual annoyance.
