British spearheads are five miles from Bremen. American forces are also closing on the city and a hard fight is expected as the city is heavily garrisoned by crack German units.
Hanover has been outflanked by tanks and ", the beseiging columns are seven miles from the city.
Bitter fighting is still raging in ruined Essen, the great Krupps industrial centre, and General Bradley’s infantry in
the Ruhr area is closing up the gaps left by the thrusting tank spearheads.
