We thought the mystery nee ded clearing up, so we called on Sgt. Cliff Foster, our Orderly Room Clerk for an explanation.He was rather nervous and wanted to know whether our reporter was a gossip writer of" a Gonophone News. Hawk. On being assured that the Orderly Room would not appear, in the phone News, Sgt. Foster gave us the lowdown. ::: ; “ The X List", he said /was in principle a . .method of procedto simplify work in Records. All men who were not on Unit strength were on an X List. Take Bob Williscroft, for instance, who is now in hospital. ON being discharged from hospital Bob would, theoretically go on. to X 4 list. But while in hospital is on what is known as X 2 List which includes all men who are hospitalised. Discharge from hospital places a man on X 4 List; from this list all reinforcements are drawn. Bob, for examph le, i&bght go to an infantry Unit.
