Kot expected to return until Sunday, the nonappearance on Monday raised a /aw doubts* By evening it was alleged that two American platoons had been loot in the same hills * there was soma doubt ’ whether they had over been found. • Fred Krona st was on his toes - two search parties were packing rations, everyone wanted to join * in the search; signals wore being learnt, there was talk of assuring a plane, rope, wire, Strips of cloth and tins of bully beef were all being packed. AM he who hinted that the nonappearance of the hikers may be ac more than delayed return through misjudgement was looked Upon as a fool, a spoilsport & colldus heel. As the parties got ready binoculars continued to play across* the hillsides. At last away went the parties - ’ hand picked every one of 'em... ’ An hour later Lennie -boot and wlfie led one party home —& very nearly had to go out for the other.
