Vr? To my surprise, I learnt that he o \ once had a motorcycle— in fact two, but, of course, they didn’t last long? In any case ho found walking ever so much quicker) no no trouble starting off and a far more comfortable journey* Quite often he managed lifts and that was really interestingc Ho did complain that the ’’right” people hadn’t picked him up ••* ”but she‘s married, anyway”* One. driving with a Frenchman, tho car broke down and' to our Ito^' 1 Hiker’s surprise the owner of the car cursed volubly in \o English ««» a tribute.to our language, surely? j’’Who is your favourite actress?”, I asked, and he looked ) sideways at me, so I told Miss Aim she could leave tho room* He then leant over me » looked into my eyes, his breath hot on my face as ho whispered ”Claudotto Colbert” a ’’And your great ambition?”, I asked s< he told me, but I cant tell you*****
