Facilities For Troops In Egypt COMMITTEE TO MAKE INQUIRY Report To Government The appointment of a committee of inquiry to investigate complaints about the canteen facilities provided for New Zealand troops serving in the Middle East was announced at the weekend by the Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser. The committee will report to the Government. Mr. Fraser said that the Government had been in communication with Major-General B. C. Freyberg with reference to complaints that had recently been reported in connexion with the canteens available to New Zealand troops in the Middle East, and the Government had agreed to General .Freyberg’s suggestion that the whole matter should be inquired into and reported on by a committee consisting of Brigadier N. S. Falla, Colonel W. G. Stevens and Mr. Harvey Turner. The Prime Minister expressed the opinion that it would be impossible "to obtain a more competent committee of inquiry, and stated that the matter would he carefully considered by the Government immediately on receipt of the committee’s report.
