“DEVOTIONAL PERIOD”
Hymn 90. W.R. Hymnal Scripture: Psalm 23 “Blessed is the day,” said an old Divine, "when Psalm was born.” Nearly everyone can repeat Psalm 23 from memory, but not everyone from the heart. Let us look at it. Verse 1: Perfect satisfaction. Verse 2: Rest and quietness. Verse 3: Restoration and guidance. Verse 4: Consecration and confidence in death. Verse 5: Spiritual food. Joy. Verse 6: God’s goodness to us. The Lord with us, the Lord beneath us, green pastures beside us, still waters before us, a table before us in the presence of our enemies, goodness and mercy ahead of us, and the House of the Lord to dwell in for ever and ever.
Prayer Dear Heavenly Father, we how before Thee today with love and thankfulness in our hearts for all Thou hast done for us in the past, and we ask Thee to give us health and strength to further Thy work. Help us to undertake much more for Thee in the future. We thank Thee for our organisation. Give our officers and members the enduring joy of extending Thy work in every land. We pray Thee to bring the mothers into our Unions for we realise that the liquor traffic threatens their homes and the future of their children. We pray Thee to grant to rs world peace. Teach us to hold the thought of peace in our ow r n hearts constantly and so make our own contr bution to universal peace. These things we ask in '”hine Own Blessed Name. Amen.
