Deep sympathy is felt with the World President of the W.C.T.U • Mrs. Forrester Paton, in the sudden death of her son-in-law, Mr. Durran, only five weeks after his marriage to her daughter. Anne. Nothing could have been more unexpected, and a great shock has been suffered by the family. Mrs. Pa tor. asks that friends will please refrain fioin writing. She knows that she has the prayers and sympathy of women the world over.
The National President of the Scottish Temperance Union, Mrs Brown, passed away recently to the great sorrow of all who knew her. At the World Convention she was present,- and among many others who bore gifts for Mrs. Boole, the retiring World President, made a presentation on behalf of her country. This was a very lovely Paisley shawl. Mrs. Brown was an outstanding Temperance worker, and her passing leaves a gap which will not easily he filled. Tasmania: The Woman’s Christian Temperance Union has decided to supplv blotters to State Schools, and to ask teachers to explain the meaning of the facts printed on them. Australia : Among Orders issued to pilots on Trans-Australian Airways is the following: “No officer is to consume alcoholic liquors in any public place whilst in uniform. The officer shall not consume anv alcoholic Honor when on duty, or during a period of 12 hours prior to returning for dtitv, and shall not whilst on duty he under the influence of anv alcoholic liquor or narcotic. Any officer breaking the above regulation will he subject to immediate dismissal.
