President’s Message

Dear Fellow Members, By this time I suppose we are beginning to feel as if the Christinas holidays are quite a long way behind us; already the young folk are beginning to talk about the Easter Camps jnd the still younger folk are looking forward to next Christmas. Yesterday 1 was informed by a small neighbour—“You see I just might get a puppy next Christmas. Mum says that if we don’t count this month I’l! only have to wait eleven months.” Are we looking forward as happily as that ? We should, and we will, if we remember that we are in Partnership with God; that is what gives us security, courage and love for our work. The burning question for all of us is how can I best use the opportunities that will come to me during this year of our Lord, 1948? Opportunities for promoting peace; for educational work in the need for abolishing the liquor trade; the need for a higher moral standard in the political, commercial, social and private life of the community. All these things lie in the duty line of every Union member. Our “Partner” expects us to do this work with Him. A sleeping partner is not much use to God or man, but an active partner with God is a definite force in the community. Our goal is to do the Lord Christ’s will. He only wins who sides with God 1 pray that 1948 will bring much joy in service to each one of us, and that when December comes we may look back with thankfulness for the many opportunities for service, and for the strength and the ability to use them. God cannot fail us. Wc must not fail Him. Yours in the fellowship of service. C. E. KIRK, Dominion President.
