CHRISTMAS PARTIES
KOHI-ST. HLLILRS On November JOth a combined party wa> held by the Kolii-St. Helicrs W.C.T.U. Francelle Lady, the President of the Legion, presided, and welcomed all present. Mrs. Kasjier, the Leader, also spike briefly, extending a welcome to the mothers of the children. Items were rendered by Lrancelle Lady, who played a pianoforte solo; Marilyn kasjKr and Alex Harkon, who sang a duet; Jeanetter Row and David and Alex Harkon, who gave recitations. Margery Hell led the Devotions. One baby wa> enrolled. A large Christmas tree held a gift for every child. Beautiful bouquets were presented to Mrs. Biddle, Secretary of the VV.C.T.I .; Mrs. Mills, L.W.R. Superintendent; and Mrs. H. Kasi>er, Leader of the L.T.L. The L.T.L. girls played games with the little ones, and the W.C.T.U. members served afternoon tea.
REMUERA Another combined Cradle Roll and L.T.L. Christmas party was held by the Remuera \\ C.T.U. on December 7th, and was most enjoyable. The L.T.L. children conducted a model meeting, Trevor Marshall, the President, presiding. He welcomed all present. There was a large number of children and parent> present. Devotions were taken hy Lois Fenton and Elaine Jensen Pianoforte solos were played by Spencer Maxwell and Trevor Marshall; Jeanette Jensen and Marilyn Kas|>er sang solos, Lois Fenton recited, and three little tots sang a trio; Ray McCarthy and Spencer Maxwell also sang a duet. The District President, Mrs, Mountjoy, was present, and enrolled three
babies; also giving an address to tk mothers and children. A Christmas tree, laden with gifts, was soon stripped, each child receiving a gift atid a hag of sweets. Bouquet' were presented to the ofticers of tk Union, to Mrs. Mount joy and Mi" Bond, Cradle Roll Superintendent. MrKasper also received gifts and flower' from the children. A warm vote ot thanks wa' passed to the ladies who provided afternoon tea BLENHEIM AND SPRINGLANDS To close the activities of both brand** for 1946, a combined social evening wa; held on sth December in the Church ot England Schoolroom, Blenheim, when there was a pleasing attendance, considering other functions being held Opening with the hymn, “While Shepherds Watched,” followed with all repeating “The Lord’s Prayer,” the District President, Mrs. V’. Underhill, welcomed the visitors, and the evening wax then sj*ent in entertaining games competitions and music. W inner' o* competitions were Mrs. J. S. White and Mr. H. Oldham. All joined in singing Christmas carols, and items were given by Misses Marge and Muriel Halt (duets), Miss Fear and Mrs. Underhill (songs). Mrs. Milgrew acconij uin with violin ami Mrs. Crow was at the piano. Miss Betty Vercoe danced tk Sailors’ Hornpipe and Mrs. Crow gave two amusing elocutionary numbers Mr* Forbes was in charge of a Sale- i able which was well worth while, and M r ' Girling was in charge of the supi* r arrangements. Mrs. Underhill gave the apologies and projiosed a vote of thank' to all who had entertained. Supper fs» dispensed and a very enjoyable cvenioe w'as brought to a conclusion.
