\n "At Home" in aid of funds for the Maon Hostel was held on Decern* her 12th, W4\ a . t | t residence ol Mrs \ I. Claridge, Superintendent of the Maori Department. The weather being fine, a happy tune was spent out loors, tin visitors strolling round the garden and viewing the flowers They were greeted on arrival by the joint hostesses, Mrs Qaridge and Miss R Edwards
The programme commenced with a brief sp< welcome by the vicepresident, Miss Jamieson, who plained that the Hostel had been taken over b) the W < T.U during the - -' in pro\ iding homes for the Maori i:irls who were flocking to the city. It was thought that a Christian home under the inline! | kindly matron would help, n onl) in a small way, in providing a happy home atmosphere, which would prevent Kirls from getting into undesirable accommodation places Miss K Edwards then gave pleasure with two recitations, after which the president.
