Tin meeting was opened with singing, Bcripturv reading and prayer. Miss l«athain, who has travelled the world over, and studied adolescence in many different countries and renditions, then gave a very Interesting and instructive talk on “Ambition ami fitizenshlp.’’ A hearty vote of thanks and appreciation was passed unanimously. Mrs Dr. Pitts gave a very interesting and instructive address on ’•Alcohol, its Uses a«nd Abuses, and Effects on Human Body*’ and was heartily thanked. Solo given by Miss Woods. Time was arranged for practising for coming Band of Ho|>e; programme to be supplied by "V girls. At the close, dainty supiar provided by Miss Smart was greatly appreciated. Two new members. August 10 Before meeting, short time spent practicing for Band of Hope. Miss Smart presided, and welcomed our South Canterbury President, Mrs Roag, who gave a verv interesting talk on work of the W.C.TiU., dealing especially with work among young people. Mrs Hoag was thanked for her Inspiring talk, and in honour of our visitor we sang the verse ’ Our l nh»n s glad to own You,” etc. September 6. Miss Beer presided. Miss G. I>ennison elected delegate to District Convention. We hope to have a vlslto ■ *«» address us at next meeting A short time spent practicing hymns. AUCKLAND. August 12. T. E. Taylor Day; the President. Miss A. M McLay. presided; fair attendance. Papers on the Life and \N ork of T. E. Taylor were read by Miss Barry and the President. Two excellent original Temperance stories were read by Miss Olive Han v and Mr Janies Davison. Our Superintendent. Miss Read, gave a recitation, and the hisses lanran wuig a duet. Miss Millieent Jennings, President of Christchurch ”Ys,” Mi Mn/.c, Chairman of Town Board, and Mr W. J. Clarke, all spoke in favour of organising. Following Officers were elected : President, Mr R. Roberts; Vice-President, Miss L. Smith and Mr T. Smith; Cor Sec., Miss L. Cartwright; Rec. Sec., Miss M. Cox; Treasurer, Miss A Boyd. Decided to meet the fourth Tuesday next meeting at Mrs Wooffindln’s. Several members eontributed musical a.id elocutionary items. Miss Jennings charming all present by her glorious singing.
