DISTRICT EXECUTIVES.

NORTH CANTERBURY. May 2*J. Mrs T. E. Taylor, President, presided, and representatives from Papanui, Kaiapoi. Kangiora, Spring-ston-Lincoln, Styx, Belfast. Tenipelton, New Brighton, North Brighton, Kiccarton and Christchurch attended. Apologies were received for non-attendance from Oxford, Spreydon and Lyttelton. Before taking the business, votes of sympathy were passed with the relatives and friends of the late Mrs Johnson-Wright, of Wellington, a National Superintendent; and also with the late Mrs H. Gainsford, of Oxford, who had been a very enthusiastic worker and the first President of the Union in that district. The votes w'ere passed, members standing.

Reports from the different Unions showed that active work w r as going on. A new Union had been formed at North Brighton, with 20 members and excellent officers: Miss B. Haiband, President; Mrs Parker, Secretary; Mrs Kamos, Treasurer. Kaiapoi reported that the new Rest Room would he opened ou June 17th, and invited members and friends to the opening ceremony and Sale of Work, which is to follow. Tempelton and Kangiora had he J successful Band of Hope meetings and L.T.L. Temperance facts had been taught, and scrap books made for the Children's Ward at the Hospital. A letter was read from Miss Anne Gordon, who gave an interesting account of the situation in America, and explained a number of misleading statements that had been published in the newspapers here, and in spite of the active propaganda carried on by the wets, Prohibition sentiment was growing and making headway. The resignation of Mrs Ferguson, President of the Cheviot Union, owing to her having left the district, was received with regret, and it was decided that one of the officers of the Executive visit the Union at an early date. Arrangements were made in connection with the District Annual Convention, which is to be held at New Brighton the second week in September. The next District Executive is to he held either on July 21st or August 4th; members to be notified.
