SUPERINTENDENT’S LETTER.

THE RAND OF MERCY. Dear Readers. I wonder why there is so little interest (apparently) taken in this most interesting and important department of the L.T.L. It is not worth while, think you, to teach humane kindness, to implant in the hearts and minds of our children, the laws of kindness and mercy to God’s dumb craatures; bear this to heart, for we are told, He loves all things that He has made. If we want to train our members for future citizens, we must teacli them. That kind hearts are more tha. Coronets, And simple faith than Norman blood. There are wrongs that need reals* ance, how will they learn. If we do not lead the way? During this month, “Animal Welfare Week’’ will be celebrated throughout the Dominion. A special N.Z. number of the Idttle Animal’s Friend will be circulated through the schools. Will, our L.T.L. Leaders, have a special programme or address, or some reference to kindness to animals, during that time, starting from 25th to 31st of July, and report to our Editor of the Young People’s Supplement. Hoping that something will be done in this department during the session. Yours sincerely, A. BATHGATE. Supt. Hand of Mercy.

38 Stour Street, Oaniam, June 29th, 1926. Dear Sisters, May I remind you that T. E. Taylor Day. or as we now call it Memorial Day, should be kept on July 27th? On this day, it is fitting to recall the life and work of any of our pioneers from whose example workers of to-day may gain inspiration to fuller service. ~*\s I have said before, I should be most grateful to any White Ribboner who would note down their personal recollections of those who led the way, so that I may have some suitable papers to lend to small Unions In need of papers to be read at their meetings. I have constant applications for such material, but have nothing with w'bich to supply the demand. May 1 also point out .that my address will now' be as above. Yours sincerely, ALICE P. WEBB. Supt. Notable Days.
