RECONCILIATION.
Professor Alexander and Elsa. Boldt. in Finland, had a son and a daughter. The son was about 16 years of age when the Gommunist revolution broke out. He had been brought up by his father as a pacifist, and knew that his father would never take arms. During the revolution the Hods had driven some White students across the ice to some mountainous island. When the thaw came the students were left exposed and
starving. But the ice froze a*., and young Boldt determined to cn over to the island, to give the studq notice of a certain food-ship that w coming along. He was killed by t Reds though for a long time his pj| ents hoped that he was perhaps st alive, hiding in or Esthom But at last word came from a tarn* that he had found the body of theirsm and ihey went out and found the bo<:j which had been preserved in the kj They buried him again, and they vowi at his grave not to seek for vengeain nor to think bitter thoughts, hut ti work, for peace. It happened sotn time afterwards that the Germans cam and freed Helsingfors from the Reds Among the prisoners there was tin man who had killed young Boldt. Pr fessor Boldt went to visit the man, asked him for his forgiveness. An« Boldt forgave him, and he and his wit* 1 ended the nian, who was ill iiv pretended him in a way in which th* would hav. ’.anted their own son treat ed by strangers. When the case can up for trial, Boldt was called to testif •against the man. but he spoke in h favour, saying that he meant to stan for reconciliation.
