CHEMISTRY AND MORALS.
Is there any relation between these two subjects? Julius Stieglitz. professor of clmniistry In the University of Chicago, say's there in. His word ; re, “Speaking as a chemist, not as a moralist, T cannot avoid the opinion that American society would he immensely benefited if prohibition we r e strictly enforc'd. There is definite relation between chemistry and morals, and alcohol produces an attitude toward life which society cannot afford to foster. It causes crime. It inflames passion. It unmeats reason. The complete removal of alcohol 1 am convinced, will change human nature for the better. My observations as a chemist compel nn to reach this conclusion.”
