GOODBYE TO MESDAMES DON AND COWIE.
FXRFAYF.FF SOCIAL. On December 15th a social gathering in connection with the Dunedin Distiict W C’.T.l . was held in Han over Street Baptist Hall, to bid fare* well to Mrs Don and Mrs Fee-Cowic, who intend leaving in January to pj\ a visit to the (A|<l Country. Mrs Hiett presided, and in her in tioductory remarks, spoke of the gnat woik done in the cause of Prohibition by the guests of the* evening, and said that all hoped that l>oth ladies would henelit gicatly in health by their trip. Mr A. S. Adams, on helialf of the X. 7.. Alliance, spoke eulogisticallv of Mrs Don’s work and influence for good in New Zealand, ana wished botl ladies a pleasant and prosperous vo\ age Mrs Peryman, on behalf of the W.0.T.C., expressed a similar wish, and the hope that Mrs Don would r« turn with renewed health.
On behalf of the W.C.T.1., Mis llislop presented Mis Don with ..r. embossed leather purse, made by « 1 (‘turned soldier, .uul Mrs Dick made a similar presentation to Mrs Fee* Cow it*.
Mrs Fee-Cowic expressed thanks far the* gift, and spoke of the ploasui* with which she was looking forward to going through the Panama Canal through a country that from being tb* most unhealthy in the world had I** co,nc the most healthy, and that banishing the mosc|uito, the sancltfy. and strong drink. Mrs Don also expressed thanks, and said that she was glad to go Home athe representative, of New Zealand at the W.C.T.C. Conference, to be held in London, and doubly glad because she would he the hist New Zealand horn delegate who had ever attended > Conference. She was going with eyeand ears open, and hoped to learn something by hei trip. During the evening songs and rotations were rendered by several members and friends, and later opportune ty was given for social chat, durin? which refreshments were hardC round.
