IMPORTANT.

THE 1920 CONVENTION. Dear Sisters, - Again the time has come round foi tn.iking preparations for the Annual Dominion Convention. Ibis y_*ar it is to t.c 1 held t n the Capital City, eointnrn'ing <>n March loth, w ith the usual preliminary meeting of the Executice. At this, in addition to the NX. Officers, District Presidents have a scat, or in the absence of the Presi dent, the District Secretary, 01 failing her, the* District Treasurer. The ex-offii io members of (/ invention include all District Presidents, Secretaries and Treasurers, all Dominion Superintendents of Departments, alt Organiser-, and Organising Treasurers, md the Dominion Travelling Secretary. Unions are entitled to send delegates to the number of one

foi every too members, or fraction of too. \s the C onvention is being held in the Central City, every Union should be able to have direct representation, without depending on prox les. If any Union is unable to send one of its own members, it maj ap point any member of the District in which it is .ituated, or if this is impossible, it may apply for a proxy. In tins latter ease it is imperative that directions preferably sealed—as to voting foi the Dominion officers, and on the two Notices of Motion, should tie forwarded to me. The Notices of Motion are as foi low : 1. Moved by Mrs Field: That all Dominion Superintendents of Depart nients present at C onvention shall have .1 seat on f he Executive, except at the meeting at which they are nominated. For the past two xcars efforts have been made to enlarge the Executive by the inclusion of sonic or all of the Superintendents of Departments, for the sake of giving to them a better in sight into the working of the T'nion, and espe< iallx of tbn own respect it e Departments. At the same time there is always the possibility of so enlarg ing the Fxecu'ivc as to make if un widely. The present suggestion may perhaps prove to be the happy mean 2. Moved by Mrs Pert man: That as Unions may now r choose as their delegate any member in their own dis tiict. Article 111. of the Constitution, be amended by deleting the words “no proxy shall be appointed, etc.” to the end. The effect of passing this would be to do away with proxies altogether. Unions arc reminded that they now have the power of sending in Nominations for the Superintendents of Department. If no nominations arc sent in, the Executive will nominate a* heretofore, but the officers would glad l< the names of an bers that Unions thought lally suitable for any Department. W ill delegates also notice that the White Ribbon Hymnal (English edi tion) is now always used at Convention. so any who have copies of their own may like to bring them, especial ly if they have the music. Each Union must forward as carl> as convenient the names and status of delegates or ->fficcrs intending to be present at Convention to me, also, if hospitality is desired, to Mrs Webb, ;; Hall Street, Wellington South. 1 “legates are requested hand in credentials not later than the first ses

.on. Stiictly speaking, no delegate ha> a right lo take her seat, until her credentials have been given in. Trusting that the approaching U«»n vention will be the source of new in spiration, and wishing each Union success and vigorous life. I am, Yours in the cause of World wide Prohibition, KATE M. EVANS, Doni. Rec. S < ip, iliropi Street, Wellington S»uth, January 15th, 1920.
