Y’s Reports.

IXVKRCARGILI

Sept, p Annual coci d. A very large attendance. His Worship the Mayor, Mr Stead. ().8.K., opened the proceedings with a well-chosen address. Songs were rendered, and a recitation. Several games and competitions were indulged in, the hat trimming competition espe< ially cans ing much amusement. We wen veiy pleased to have Mrs Penman, from Dunedin, who gave a ver> interesting and inspiring address on “Knthusiasm, ’ and as a result of her address ten new members were secured, as well a> twelve honorary ones. As a mark of appreciation, she was presented by Miss Jones with a beautiful floral tribute. The most attractive event ot the evening was the mysterious supper, the hist ever held in Invercargill. Our thanks were given to Mr A. S. Wallace for the help In* gave us. We also much appreciated the effort our President, Miss Birss, made to be present with us so shortly after the loss of her mother. Mrs Birss had been a W’.C.T.LL member for 55 years, and was one of the oldest members of the Invercargill I nion.

HASTINGS. Aug. We had the pleasure ot a visit from Miss Karnshaw and Miss Weymouth, and thev urged Us to continue working, and inspired us with fresh enthusiasm, and there is no possible tear of us disbanding. Meetings are held every second Monday, and the regular attendance of the girls denotes the interest they take in the work. We intend to send a delegate to the next Convention, and are working hard to secure the necessary funds. Following are the officers; Pres. Miss K Dallas; Cor. Sec., Miss B. Mitchell; Rec. Sec., Miss Clark; I reas., Miss A. Dallas.
