The White Ribbon. For God and Home and Humanity. WELLINGTON, JUNE 18, 1919. THE WHITE RIBBON.

The “White Ribbon” is the official organ of the W.C.T.U. in New Zea land. It tells of its organisation, its •urns, and it* activities, not only here, but all ov»*r the world. It gives up-to-date information upon the 1 emperance Campaign, upon Social Reform, and upon Women s Work and Women s Questions. To increase its circulation is to make our platform and our work more widely known. Our organisers always find it easier to start a Onion if the “White Ribbon" has been circulating in the place for a time.

Convention urged Unions to go in lor a big membership campaign, to endeavour to link up all temperance "omen in one large organisation. I o eirculate our paper will help in this effort, particularly to circulate it among non-members. Our Business Manager is asking for 1000 new sub-

scribers this year. Does it look too big a proposal? Certainly not. We have 106 Unions and 21 \ Unions. If each Union would secure one new 'subscriber per month it would easily be done. Don’t leave all the work to the Agent; whenever you can get a subscriber give her name and address at once to the Agent. It can be done. The Hastings Agent went home from Convention determined to do her best, and in four weeks sent in 11 new subscriptions. During the same period Miss Earnshaw was successful in gaining 14 new subscriber in Hastings and 18 in Napier. So within six weeks of the request being made, Hastings has got 25 new subscribers more than twice its quota of one per month for the year, and Napier, with 18 new subscribers, is well over the quota. Here is work for quiet workers. Iry to get our paper into homes where the education on Temperance and Social Reform is needed. We ha v e distributed much free literature, but people often will read a paper they pay for when literature distributed goes into the waste paper basket. Don’t say it can’t be done. Do it. We want a few women of this type in every Union.
