COMMUNAL KITCHENS.
Communal kitchens are being opened in London. 1 hey provide cheap and appetising meals. In one week some 18 different kinds of food were served, and each at the cost of 2d per dish. Customers bring their own plate* and cans. One day the menu was: Soup, ?d ; meat pasties, 2d • tapioca pudding and golden syrup, 2d. The kitchens arc expected to be self-supporting.
