LIQUOR SELLING NOT PROFITABLE.
In New York and Brooklyn there will be 300 less saloons this year than there were last year, and 50 less in Long Island City. This decrease is owing to the failure of saloon-keepers to make application for renewal of their licenses, a state of affairs caused partly by the fact that the business of selling imuor is not so profitable as formerly, and partly by the 2 5 per cent, rise in the price of saloon licenses.
