REDUCTION OF LIQUOR CAUSES REDUCTION IN CRIME.
In England, owing to reduction of crime since the war began, eleven prisons have been closed entirely. In four others a wing has been closed, and arrangements are being made for the total closing of five more. The prison estimates for the year have been reduced by ,£IOO,OOO, or about 12 per cent. A special correspondent of the “Times” says that the liquor restrictions are largely responsible for the reduction of crime,
