MEMBERS OF THE WANGANUI CONVENTION OF THE W.C.T.U., 1916.
The 31st Convention of the W.C.T.U. met in St. Paul’s Hall, Nixon Street, Wanganui. This hall is the property of the Trustees of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church. The above group was taken in the grounds behind the church, and has for a background the manse, with its
shrubbery and garden. The hall was well suited for such a gathering, but roomy as it is, on several occasions it was well filled. The afternoon sessions were well attended, and the few evening meetings taxed to its utmost the seating capacity of the hall. At first the weather was so hot
that it was difficult to muster up energy even for an atta k upon our old enemy the Liquor Trade. Hut the cooler weather came, and Convention got into form, and laid the train and put the fuse ready for a shot at the Liquor Trade, which may prove a “knock-out blow.”
