He Puaawai Trophy Pictured below is the home and garden of Mrs Z. Taka, of Otahuhu, who was the winner of the first Auckland Gardening Competition, open to all Maori homeowners. Other place getters were Mrs H. Penny of Manurewa, second, and Mrs B. Manley, Mount Wellington, third. Mr J. Moore, Auckland District Officer of the Department of Maori Affairs, organ-

ised the competition and donated the trophy which is to be competed for annually. There were sevently applications for the competition. This was a good start, and there was so much interest aroused, it is expected that there will be even more entries in future.
