Debutante Ball On 8 September, the Kahungunu Maori Women's Welfare League held a Presentation Ball at Wairoa. Twenty-two very elegant young ladies were presented to Mrs Whetu Tirikatene-Sullivan, M. P., and the Mayor and Mayoress of Wairoa, Mr and Mrs R. Shortt. President Mrs Lilian Adsett announced the debutantes, They were led into the hall by two small girls in full Maori costume, Adri-
enne Adsett and Parehuia Carroll-Paku, who presented flowers to the guests of honour.
