As if; as it were 43. Cook in an oven 46. Rain Te Whaiti Nui-a-Toi Maori Agricultural School (Te Whaiti, Urewera) has now been recognised for technical bursaries in agriculture. This school, conducted by the Maori Mission of the Prebyterian Church, has existed since 1937, and has 440 acres of land attached to it. Until recently, however, the school did not prepare pupils for the school certificate examination. It now offers a school certificate course in Agriculture. The value of the technical bursaries, which can now be held at the school, is £40 per annum. Applications for 1959 have to be made to the school immediately. * * * The Rehua Hostel, run by the Methodist Church for Maori apprentices in Christchurch, is being expanded. Next year it will accommodate 31 boys.
