Infection: Young babies and children are susceptible to infection, kissing the baby and small child on the mouth of adults should be avoided. Particularly Maori grandparents show their affection for their grandchildren by a vigorous sucking of the infant on the cheeks and mouth. Tact should be used by the mother to avoid this practice. It is a dangerous habit, practiced by many adults, especially old people.
