TUKITERANGI KIO RAWIRI Tukiterangi Kio Rawiri, 90 years of age, died at Te Waharoa, Central Waikato, last March. He was a well-known elder and leader of Ngati Haua. In recent years he became deeply religious and a few days before his death he said at a gathering at Waharoa Pa: ‘The Gospel of Jesus Christ is still the only hope to uplift the Maori people.’
