STRAWPEOPLE WIN APRA AWARD
The Strawpeople song ‘Sweet Disorder’ written by Mark Tierney, Anthony loasa (Grace) and Paul Casserly won this year’s Silver Scroll Award at the annual APRA Awards dinner, Tuesday October 24 at the Auckland Downtown Convention Centre. The song was selected by six industry judges from 120 entries.
Dave Dobbyn won Most Performed Work in New Zealand for ‘Language’ and Neil Finn won Most Performed Work Overseas for ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’.
The other four finalists for the Silver Scroll Award were Dave Dobbyn’s ‘Language’ and ‘Naked Flame’, Dave McArtney’s ‘Never Fade Away’ and Jan Hellriegel’s ‘Geraldine’. On the night the finalist’s songs were performed by Dead Flowers’ Bryan Bell and celloist Fiona Mayes (‘Geraldine’), Maree Sheehan (‘Naked Flame’), Jules Issa (‘Sweet Disorder’), Girls Talk (‘Never Fade Away’) and Glen Moffatt (‘Langauge’).
