Wellington-based outfit Condition Red came up trumps at the Hatching battle of the bands final organised by Auckland venue Pod. As part of

their prize the band have been recording an EP at York Street Studios, that will be released on the studio’s Zeal record label. Over 80 bands from throughout the North Island entered the competition, and due to the popularity of the Hatching, a second band battle is scheduled for early in 1996.
