We Are Not Amused

A certain Mr. Kevin List believes himself to be a comedian. Yes, he is funny. However, if he wishes to pursue a comic career, then he should do it somewhere other than in his reviews for this magazine. Instead of spouting shit, Kevin List should actually try writing about music. After all, that is the function of music reviews.

For a lot of people, especially kids, these reviews are the only informed (?) opinions available on the music they like to listen to, and one of the few counters to all the bull-, shit advertising that accompanies any new release. Combining this with the fact an album is still a relatively expensive item for the vast majority of people (eg.: students, bums, me), it is only fair to expect the people entrusted with writing reviews (eg. Kevin List) to be able to assume a certain responsibility for including some information/opinion/observations/ about the music. A fair amount of humour is welcome in reviews, but only when it is partnered with some straight talk. Be funny, Kevin, but don’t stay a shit-head all your life. If this doesn’t make any sense to you, then maybe you should just stay home and wank, instead of doing it in public. The Elvis Appreciation Society, Upper Hutt.
