Operation Music Storm The Third Annual Operation Music Storm is on again. The competition is open to all unsigned bands who are playing original material. Heats and semi-finals will be held in Christchurch and Dunedin during April, and the final will take place at Sammys Entertainment Venue in Dunedin on May 5. Prizes worth in excess of $15,000 are on offer, including the recording and release of a CD single, a NZ On Air video grant, and placement on the NZ On Air Kiwi Hit Disc. For an entry form or further info contact Operation Music Storm, PO Box 5823 Dunedin. Closing date for entries is March 5 1995. New Zealand Music Seminar Cancelled The 1995 New Zealand Music Seminar, scheduled to take place in April, has been cancelled by organisers. Michael Walls, of Tiffany First Bass, claims the withdraw! of financial support by Phonographic Performances Limited and the Recording Industry Association of New Zealand, has forced the cancellation. Other industry groups, including the Australasian Performing Rights Association and the Australasian Mechanical Copyright owners Society, had pledged full support for the Seminar, but “insufficient funds” made the cancellation unavoidable, says Walls.
