These four know what they're doing. Live cuts and some studio stuff, engineered by one Matthew Heine. The ITV noise machine grinds into mofion with ‘Surfs Up’, way down in the lower register, bass heavy, heavy guitar, shot through with sonic welts. ‘Dr Who' (rec live at Rising Sun 4/3/89) starts withan - incoherent rumble, sounds like someone trying to winch the roof off a house, spirals into first-degree demolition stomp-out. Get the picture? Side Two is ‘Love Bitch/Devil Woman'. This is the sound of being strapped onto one of those medieval torture wheels, slow turning, stretching the victim to the limits of endurance, remorseless grinding, consummate control, yep, if's that good.
