Sanguma Return
Described as playing “jazz-rock-reggae, Sanguma are the Papua New Guinea band who wowed audiences during their last visit here
three years ago. Combining traditional PNG instruments with electronic, Sanguma were formed to present their country’s culture in a form their young people could relate to, but they’re said to have an exciting live show which should attract a lot of interest during their North Island tour when they return’ here later this month. There are many different tribes in PNG (a country with over 700 languages!) and each member of Sanguma comes from a different tribe and reflects the diverse range of music * and dance in PNG. Sanguma’s tour begins at the Cricketers in Wellington on June 26.
