Dunedin Dancers Make Good Showing
DUNEDIN dancers, Miss Cora Duff and Mr, Leo Schmelz, who left in November to take part in the 1938 Australasian ballroom’ championships, did not do a Catalogue race to victory. However, against the best in Australia, they came in fifth-no mean achievement. Advice received from Mr, Schmelz is to the effect that both he and his partner were very welf pleased with their performance, and they will return laden with trophies. Interest in their welfare was widespread. Dunedin preliminary contests and the finals, in which presentations and congratulations were made by Dr. D. G. McMillan, M.P., were broadcast by 4ZB. Ghampionship was won by 2 Metbourne couple, this being the second year in succession that the distinction has gone to the Victorian capital.
