Memorial Service For Late Mrs. Ratana

MAORIS in the Taranaki and Wanganui districts lost a good friend when Mrs. Ratana, wife: of H. T. Ratana, member for Western Maori, died recently. Station 2ZB’s tribute to her memory consisted of a broadcast memorial service specially directed to the Ratana Pa. The service was conducted (both in Maori and English) by Oriwa Haddon, 2ZB announcer, .who is well known to Ratana’s followers. Even the most isolated Maori settlements have radios nowadays, and the Commercial Service’s Maori announcers have large followings among their people.
