New NCBS Feature Commences Soon
A NEW radio feature which should make keen philatelists of many young New Zealanders, commences from the four main commercial stations next Monday. It is called "The Stamp Man," and will be heard from 5.45 to 6 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. "The Stamp Man" is Al Sperry, well-known American vhilatelist, who has been broadcasting for many years in the United States. His stamp album before him, he simply sits down before a microphone and chais pleasantly about unusual and interesting stamps in his collection. He makes no claim to be an expert announcer; indeed, he rambles away discursively without notes, but his knowledge of stamps is claimed to be second to none in America, and he certainly fills every minute of his 15-minute talks with interesting facts. "The Stamp Man" gave his first talks from a small American broadcasting station several years ago. He became so popular that he was soon broadcasting from a chain of small stations, and eventually from the NBC blue network. His talks have been officially approved and endorsed by countless parents’ associations, school commitees and similar otrganisations in America. He invites listeners to join his International Stamp Club, members being forwarded a list of members in countries all over the world, with whom they can correspond and. exchange stampr
