NEW BBC CHIEF
Prof,. Frederick Wolff °. Ogilvie, president--and vice=chancellor of -‘Queen’s University, ‘Belfast; since 1934, has been appointed to succeed Sir John Reith as director‘general of the British Broadcasting Corporation. The appointment of the professor to this £7000 a year job was a surprise, as his name was not mentioned as one.of those likely to be chosen. Among those mentioned as most likely-to be considered for appointment to the post vacated by Sir .
