ANALYSIS of the careers of the Australian Broadcasting Commission’s celebrity-artists for 1988, makes interesting reading, for it shows that the majority of the artists were trained for other work. The Russian basso, Alexander Kipnis, completed his training as a military band conductor before he diseoyered his potentialities as a singer. Dino Borgioli studied for the legal profession, but became a Grand Opera star instead.
