ON THE AIR MARKET ‘THERE are some amazingly versatile men among the commercial service’s 50 odd announcers, and one of them is John Bremner, of the Cathedral City’s station 3ZB. To begin with, the crisp-voiced John, was. a fully-qualified chemist with all the trimmings before joinings 3ZB That was not the reason for ‘his appointment, but it has brought a novel session to the station. Mr. Bremner’s home town is Dunedin where, during the taking of his chemis\try degrees, he was closely associated with 4ZW, This was in the triple role of announcer, programme assistant and co-secretary and treasurer of the 4ZW Radio Club. Like nearly every one of the Commercial Service’s pleasant voiced southern announcers, he was a pro--minent member of the Dunedin Reper‘tory Society for several. years. Most people have come, with good reason, to have a high regard for New Zealand trained chemists, and believe the main difference between a chemist and a doctor is that the. chemist does not perform operations, Mr. Bremner puts. his special knowledge of these things over the alr for the benefit of listeners or, as he puts it to the "Record," as "a bit of extra service."
