Cuban Broadcast for DX Club
I HAVE received a letter from Senor Bernabe de la Torre advising me that he is ‘dedicating a special programme to the N.Z. DX Club. This programme will be broadcast over station COGF from 4 to 5 pm. N.Z. time on Sunday, May 29. The frequency is 11.800 megaeycles (25.41 metres), and the address is: General Bentacourt 51 (Playa), Matanzas, Cuba. Most of the announcements will be made in English-perhaps all of them! Remember, the programme is being specially broadcast for our club members, so send Senor de la Forre a report. All eorrect reports, accompanied fy an LR.C., will be acknowledged with the QSL card of COGF.-246 M.C. (Christchureh). Answers To Correspondents J.W. (Hawera): You have been hearing 2ZB on its sixth harmonic. I heard 1ZM in the Same manner.224M.C. (Ashburton). "Dismal Desmond" (Christchurch) : In quoting your verification from "Radio Belgrano," you conclude with the remark, "It certainly sounds a bit mixed; still, it’s a verification." Well. O.M., re th e"a bit mixed" remark, if you were asked to translate such a message back into another language, cou!d yeu do so without becoming "g little mixed’? Still, ag you say, it certainly is a verification, which seems to be about the only matter for concern !- 246M.C, (Christchurch). 246M.C, (Christchurch): Regarding the administrator of COCX, it was not I who gave it as "Sr. F. A. Ravil," but J.W.M., of Auckland.-109T. (Opunake). Identification Wanted Station on 3im,. (9.56m.¢.), heard at 5.35 p.m. on Saturday, April 23. The call sounded like "achay-ay-essay-ay-
em," and the station closed at the above-mentioned time with a waltz played on two guitars. Four chimes were struck between items. Also a station on 1480k.c. which closes down at approximately 7 p.m. with the announcement. "This is --, situated in Washington, D.C., and operating ou 1480 kilocycles, closing down until 6 a.m. to-morrow morning. Goodnight everybody."-646A. (Waitoa). DX Topics Shortwave Notes. PY 6XKG, which operates on 35,950 k.e. (11.56 m.), hag been heard to good advantage during the last few days. ‘This station is in Los Angeles, California, and relays KGFJ all day. They are pleased to receive reports on their transmissions. The best time to hear W6XKG is from 8 to 4.30 p.m. Ten-metre stations have been fairly weak during the last few days. The 20-metre band, at present, is excellent. Those dxers looking for amateurs will find no trouble in logging any amount of stations between 4 and 6.30 p.m.-G’s, CT’s, F’s, LU’s, W’S. KA’s, ete., are all coming in well. Regarding the 31-metre band, listeners now have an excellent choice in the mornings, as from 7 a.m. onward the following can be heard: 2RO. OLR4A, OZF, W3XAU. Several times during the last week or two, RNE on 25 m, has been heard with an R8 signal from 3 to 4 p.m. Excellent music has been heard and talks in English by a lady announcer, witb a very clear voice, Speech can be copied 100 per cent. The German stations on the 19 m. band are now beginning to leave us during the winter months, as they are not ag strong from 5.5 p.m. as they were a fortnight ago. However, on the saine band, they can now be heard all day-that is from 9.30 a.m. to 3.50 p.m.: another month and they will be at full speaker strength. The Empire stations are giving excellent signals from 5.30 p.m. on all bands-16.86 m., 19.76 m., 19.82 m.,
25.58 m., and 31.55 m.-

ZBW DOES Verify Again. HAVE received a card from ZBW, Hong Kong, and on it they state: "The Hong Kong broadcasting station thanks you for the report, and takes pleasure in confirming your reception of ZBW on November 11, 19387." Written in big purple letters across the card is the word "Verified," so this proves that they verify again. Has any dxer received cards from
the following stations: TIZRC, HK1HP, KAIAP, KAIBH, KZRM, WBZA? These stations are well overdue, and I have given up all hopes of getting’ replies.-109T. (Qpunake). Would Appreciate Reports. 7,208, D. A. Leslie, 122 Sheehan Street, Gisborne, informs us that he is always pleased to receive reports from dxers, and, provided that such reports are accompanied by a halfpenny stamp, a station card will be forwarded to the reporter. Another Listener Who Heard It. IN a recent issue of the "Radio Record" J.W. (Hawera) stated that be heard 2ZB on 42 metres on April 5. I heard this station on 43.75 metres at 4.45 p.m. on April 17 and reception was clearer than on the broadcast band. An organ recital was being reloved. My receiver is a five-valve one,
