M. Jardillier, the French P.M.G., hag announced .that, ju order to avoid the difficu'ties which had been experienced in the development cf broadcasting, the Government had decided that television experiments should be made by the State in collaboration with specialists only. This is evidently the reason: why Poste Parisien hag not succeeded in obtaining permission to transmit television, in spite of having installed the Barthelemy system. Since the beginning of the yeay transmissions of white lines, squares, rectangles, and other geometrical figures, have been made from the Rue de Grenelle from 10 a.m. to 10.30 a.m, aud from 4.380 p.m. to 5 p.m., in order to assist manufacturers in testing their apparaius. The Minister hay decided upon the euonstruction of a new ‘ultra-shortwave trunsmitter for the television station of the Hiffel Tower. The Broadcasting Service will take steps to increase the power and range of the station to permit the transmission of television under the best conditions possible at the present moment. bn Es &
