All markets will, naturally, compete forthis great boom in the silk trade, Queen Mary’s presence at the coronstion of her son the King will signalise a deeply interesting event, since it will | be the third time that her Majesty has been a° central figure at an English coro nation, At King George’s, Queen Mary’s gown was made from a magnificent piece of ivory satin, lavishly adorned with goid embroideries. The bodice, which had a square’ decollete, had short but’ dressy sleeves, and the Royal train was'a beautiful exdmple of folded material and graphic needlework, From the hem of the skirt the embroidery sprayed in a freehand design, with a flourish of Imperial emblems, to the shoulder. This dresg has now passed into history and is shown behind’ the ‘glass cases at the London Museum. Queen Mary’s long white kid gloves had a single gold. embroidered _monogram at the back of the hand. King Edward VII wore white gloves with gold gauntlets' and: intricately worked _with the Royal:Arms. 'They' were the gift of the Dike of Newcastle.
