DX Topics | Re: "Radio Poderbradi." Asl am a recent listener in the DX field I take.this opportunity of thanking the New Zealand "Radio Record" for affording keen dxers like myself a concise and much appreciated magazine, dealing with topics close to

the hearts of DX friends, and I am sure I am voicing the thoughts of others, In reply to Mr. Anderson of Milton, I would like to, say that I picked up Radio Poderbradi of Czechoslavakia on Saturday, July 25.at about 4.30 p.m. I don’t want. to start an» argument-far from it- but ae conditions were very good Saturday 25th as compared. with same on Friday, I have some justification in correcting Mr. Anderson with regard ‘to the spelling of the "Czech" station. I happened to tune-in just at the end of a record, and of course, awaited an announcement and this is -what it .was: s!Hullo, hulle} ":Radio Poderbradi, .. of Czechoslovakia, testing. Hullo, Radio Poderbradi; PODERBRADI (this was Spelt q letter at a time) -CZECHOSLOVAKIA. Aftér an interval of one minute we are changing our wavelength from 49.05 metres to 19.698 metres."’, Th» above announcement was spoken in English, German, French and another language which was unfamiliar to me. I then tuned over to 19,698 metres. I trust I am not starting chaos in DX circles with the above report. but I know that dxers' want exact information. right down. to the last brass tack, so here it is. tone a Tuning Condenser" (Wellingon), 20 Metre Band Activity,

FINHE 20-metre band has been very active ‘during the past week, a feature be-° ing. the strength of: the KA1’s, KAIBH and KAIME have been RG-7 between 6.30 and 10. p.m.; KAIRR has also been busy experimenting with various ‘microphones, with a good signal, .- On Wednesday, September 2 the following were logged: LU7ET, Argentina; CO2KY. Guba: YV5AA,,. Venezuela: WSMPK, :‘W9GSK, and XG1G, Mexico. American hams were too numerous to be pleasant, making identification impossible unless clear of the heterodyning. Both NY2AE and XG1G are putting iver a very fine signa] and should be easily logged. PK’s (Duteh Kast Indies) have been heard around 10.30 p.m. with PK3WI1 the best, at R4. I find the best time for dxing on the 20 metre band is between 1.15 ‘and 2.15 p.m., when the above hams were logged. To-night, ‘September 2, ‘reception on the broadcast band is exceptional, KNX. WLW... KOA. KSL. KFBK, WOAIT, XENT, XEAW, XERA and KGMB, coming in hetter than at any time this winter, KFAC was heard while 1YA was off for a few minutes at 6 p.m. on 1310° kilocycles, On 6100 kilocycles there is an S.W. station with an Englieh session between 6 and 6.80 am. . Although sigrials are good, QRN. makes reading difficult. A

lady speaker is heard usually, sometimes with a news session, at other times with some special feature. Perhaps some dxer can identify this station for me-
