Musical Comedy Company for New Zealand Soon
"No, No, Nanette" and Several Others A MUSICAL comedy company, sent over by Sir Benjamin Fuller, is a possibility for New Zealand at the end of the year, according ‘o information supplied to a "Radio Record" representative by Mr. John Hamer, manager of St. James Theatre, Dunedin. The repertoire of the company will include three hot favourites, "No, No, Nannette,"" "The O’Brien Girl" and "Little Mary Kelly," and two new shows, ""The Merry Malones,"’ and "‘Billy.". The season will probably start at Dunedin on Boxing Day. The cast includes some interesting names: Charles Norman, who’ was brought from England to Australia recently for "Anything Goes"; Barrett Leonard, who will be remembered for his work in New Zealand with Marie Burke in "Wildflower" and ‘‘Katja’’; Bert Matthews who came from America to Melbourne for Ernest C. Rolls’ production. of "The Flame Within’’; Catherine Stewart, heroine of severfal of Freddie Forbes's shows; Rene Maxwell, a girl with a glorious soprano voice; and Anita Shaw, who took the place of Elsie Prince in the original Australian production of ‘‘No, No, Nannette."’
