More Strings
Pleasant Fare From 2YA ANOTHER performance to please lovers of string music is scheduled for Wednesday, September 16, from 2YA, when Hamilton Dickson will have his String Orchestra on deck again. This young Wellington conductor is enlarging his following of listeners every time he broadcasts. The music he provides is wellchosen and carefully adapted for his eleven-string orchestra with piano, and there is an admirable cohesion and _ verve about the combination. The selections to be played on Wednesday next week ate: "Norma" Overture (Bellini); two syncopated pieces by Coates, ‘Moon Magic’’ and ‘Rose of Samarkand"; "Du and Du" Waltz (Johan Strauss). The sort of stuff enjoyed by the "‘non-« classical music-lovers as much by the classically-inclined.
